CosmoCaixa is a Science Museum, which in contemporary terms means it has both permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as interactive areas, where the visitor is encouraged to directly interact with ingenious devices which help him/her understand scientific principles and laws.
The institution is also engaged in high quality Science outreach activities: it constantly receives visits from High School groups, and periodically holds divulgative lecture series both on basic and research topics, as well as evening seminars, usually imparted by University Professors and researchers. CosmoCaixa was awarded the 2006 European Museum of the Year Award. More recently, ESA has chosen to install their Spanish European Science Education Resource Office (ESERO) within the Barcelona premises of CosmoCaixa.
The Centre provides fully equipped conference rooms. The largest, the Auditori, has capacity for 320 -see photo-, but we have arranged to have a few more for splinters, meetings, discussions, etc. The organisation will provide free wireless internet
connection throughout the Conference, and a small number of desktop computers for casual use.The Museum also hosts a Restaurant-Cafeteria, which will be open (almost) all the time. Delegates coming with a car can make use of the Parking facilities -though a fee of about 1.20€/hour will have to be payed.
